Labs (experimental features)

Opt in to experimental, Space-level features in Buda — what they are, how to enable them, and what to expect.

Want early access to features still in the making? Labs lets you switch on experimental capabilities for a Space and try them before they ship to everyone. Toggles are per Space, so you can experiment in one company without affecting another.

What Labs is

Labs is a set of feature toggles in Space settings → Labs. Each toggle turns an in-progress feature on or off for the current Space, and the change takes effect immediately. Available toggles include:

  • Teams — turn the create button into a dropdown for creating agents or Teams.
  • Commander — legacy toggle from Commander's early preview. It still requires a paid plan to flip, but flipping it no longer does anything — Commander is open to everyone regardless of this setting.
  • Terminal — show a terminal panel in agent sessions to view command output.
  • Agent Email — give an agent a dedicated email address to receive and reply to mail.
  • Open in VSCode — add an option to open the agent workspace in VS Code.
  • OpenClaw Remote Control — connect agents to a self-hosted OpenClaw instance via a gateway URL.

The exact list evolves as features graduate or change.

Enable a Lab feature

Open the Space switcher → Settings → Labs, then flip the toggle for the feature you want. It applies to the current Space right away — no reload needed. Toggle it back off whenever you like.

Some Labs features require a paid plan, and a few are internal and won't appear in production. When that's the case, the toggle notes it inline.

What to expect

These are experimental features, subject to change. Behavior may shift, and a feature may be reworked or removed as it matures. Try them in a non-critical Space, and expect rough edges compared to shipped features.
