Connect WhatsApp
How to link a WhatsApp account to Buda via QR code for two-way AI conversations — no Meta Business account required.
Connect WhatsApp
Buda connects to WhatsApp by scanning a QR code — the same way you log in to WhatsApp Web. No Meta Business account, no API application, no paid subscription required.
Important: Scanning the QR code takes over the account
Unlike other channels, connecting WhatsApp means logging in as a WhatsApp account directly.
Once the QR code is scanned, Buda will send and receive messages as that account. This means anyone who messages that number will receive an automatic reply from Buda, as if the account owner is responding.
We strongly recommend using a dedicated WhatsApp account for Buda — do not use your personal number.
Step 1: Add the WhatsApp Channel in Buda
- Open Channels in Buda settings
- Click Add Channel and select WhatsApp
- Click Connect — a QR code will appear on screen
Step 2: Scan the QR Code
Scan the QR code on screen using the dedicated WhatsApp account. Once the status shows Active, the connection is complete.
Step 3: Test
Send a message to the connected number from a different WhatsApp account, for example: Hi.
Once Buda replies, you're all set 🎉
WhatsApp does not allow an account to message itself, so you'll need a second account to test.
Using in a Group
Add the connected account to a WhatsApp group and Buda will process all messages in the group — no @mention required.
Troubleshooting
The QR code expired
QR codes have a time limit. Go back to the channel settings page in Buda to generate a new one, then scan again.
The connection dropped
Buda will reconnect automatically. If it doesn't recover, check the channel status in Buda settings and re-scan if needed.
I accidentally used my personal number
In WhatsApp on your phone, go to Linked Devices, find the Buda entry and log it out. Then delete the channel in Buda and reconnect with a dedicated account.
