About: Why We Built Buda

A Story of AI Agents and the Future of Humanity

Buddha stands with humanity — the inspiration behind Buda

In Record of Ragnarok (終末のワルキューレ), the gods put humanity on trial.

Their verdict: humans are too flawed, too destructive, too chaotic.

The decision is made. Humanity will be wiped out.

But before the sentence is carried out, there is one last chance — a tournament. Gods versus humans. The fate of the world decided by combat.

And then something unexpected happens.

Buddha — a god, worshipped by billions — walks over to the human side and says: I'll fight for them.

Not because anyone asked him to.

Not because it was the safe choice.

Because he looked at humanity — messy, imperfect, struggling — and decided they were worth fighting for.

That moment is why we named this product Buda.

We're living through something similar right now.

AI is getting powerful fast. Agents can already do research, run workflows, manage systems, and execute tasks across the internet — things that used to require entire teams of people.

That's not a bad thing. But it raises a real question:

As AI gets more capable, do humans get more powerful — or do they get replaced?

We think the answer depends entirely on who builds the tools.

What AI Agents Actually Are

For most of history, tools extended what humans could do physically.

The hammer. The engine. The computer.

AI agents are different. They don't just extend your hands — they extend your judgment. They can read, decide, and act on your behalf.

We call the most capable of these systems Claws — because they reach out and grab things. They execute. They don't wait to be told twice.

OpenClaw was an early example of this kind of system. It showed that AI could move beyond conversation and actually execute tasks in the real world.

A single person with the right agent setup can do what used to take a whole company.

That's the opportunity.

But here's the risk: if these systems aren't built around humans, they start optimizing for efficiency instead of people. They replace workers instead of empowering them. They make decisions without anyone in the loop.

Why We Built Buda

We built Buda to be the system that keeps humans in charge.

The name still starts with Buddha's choice to stand with humanity. But inside the product, Buda also became a shorthand for Boundless Unlimited Drive-based Agents.

By drive-based, we mean agents that work from persistent files, long-term memory, and durable task state, not just a chat window that forgets everything when the session ends.

Not by slowing AI down. But by giving people the tools to actually lead it.

With Buda, you don't just use AI — you direct it. You build agent fleets. You set the goals. You stay in control of what gets done and how.

Think of it like this: the Claws are powerful, but they need direction. Buda is the rabbit that shepherds them.

What This Looks Like in Practice

Soon — and in some cases already — individuals will run operations that used to require entire teams, not with disposable chat sessions, but with agents that accumulate context over time:

  • Agents that work from a persistent drive instead of starting from zero each time
  • Agents that build long-term memory from files, decisions, and past work
  • Agents that improve as your knowledge base, workflows, and task history grow
  • Agents that keep documents, systems, and execution context organized across time
  • Agents that take repetitive operational work off your plate so you can focus on direction

Buda is the platform that makes this possible. One place to store operational memory, direct your agents, and scale a workforce that becomes more useful the longer it runs.

Our Mission

Protect Humans. Push Humanity Forward.

The best technologies in history didn't replace people. They made people more capable.

We're building Buda to do the same thing — to make sure that as AI gets more powerful, the humans using it get more powerful too.

Our Belief

Buddha chose to fight for humanity when it would have been easier not to.

We make the same choice every day.

Build AI that works for people. Guide it. Keep it pointed in the right direction.

The future doesn't belong to the machines.

It belongs to the people who lead them.

Our Design Language

The visual identity of Buda reflects our philosophy:

🐰 The Bunny — You. The human. The shepherd who guides the AI workforce with calm strategy.

🦞 The Claws — Your AI agents. Powerful executors that reach out and complete tasks.

Warm Parchment & Matte Gold — Ancient wisdom meets modern technology. We draw inspiration from Japanese Zen minimalism and Buddhist scrolls — quiet confidence, not flashy hype.

Ensō (円相) — The Zen circle. Our design system is named after the hand-drawn circle that represents enlightenment, strength, and the universe. It's never perfect, and that's the point.
